Background:

This haunting series of Abbey prints is from a pictorial history of the ruined abbeys of Great Britain published in the 1800s.  The color engravings are based on original drawings by Alexander Lydon, well known British natural history and landscape illustrator.  The prints capture both the beauty of the remains of the original architecture of the abbeys, as well as the surrounding scenery.
