Background:

The American Indian Pottery prints shown on this page are based on artifacts uncovered during an archeological expedition to Arizona in 1895 sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution.  The focus of this research was the archeology of the Southwest, in particular pueblo life pertaining to the cliff houses.

The prints are based on drawings by Mrs. F. W. Hodge whose husband was a member of the expedition.
