Background:
These antique prints are from a folio featuring British birds and
their nests. The prints are based on illustrations by the
British artist George James Rankin (1864-1937).
Each print presents the
birds and their nests in a natural setting. The English and
Latin name of the bird is given, along with their size and the family
of birds they belong to.
As noted in the introduction
"The series includes nearly all the species which nest in the
British Isles in appreciable numbers, and a few rarer birds of special
interest".
