About Dachshunds

These delightful little dogs became popular towards the
end of last century.  Perhaps the influence of Queen Victoria
had something to do with this. as she kept Dachshunds for
many years after she married, and was especially fond of
'Dekel' whom she brought back from Germany.  He was
buried in the home park at Windsor after fourteen years of
devotion.  'Dachshund' means 'Badger Dog' and indicates
that they were originally very bold and sporting breed.
