Background:

These color wood engraved prints are based on illustrations of English lake scenery by Alexander Lydon (1836-1917), one of the most prolific natural history and landscape artists in England in the second half of the 1800s.  As with his Scottish Loch series, we greatly admire (and enjoy) the "atmosphere" created through his artistry - note the Fishermen standing on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake at sunrise (or sunset, depending on your perspective!).
