Background:
These chromolithograph prints portray different breeds of Russian horses, including
Stallions, Mares and Geldings. They are from an 1894 French folio Races
Chevalines (Breeds of Horses).
The horses are portrayed in a natural setting, and the prints include statistics on
the age and height for each one. Some of the prints are based on horses belonging to
Russian nobility including the Emperor, Grand Dukes and Counts.
