Background:

These delightful prints are from The Flower Garden, a hard-to-find early 1800s guide on "directions for the cultivation of all garden flowers".  They feature exquisite detail and hand-coloring.  The objectives were to help the amateur gardener in "laying out his grounds, principles on cultivation and method of succession of flowers during the year."
