Background:
These original prints are from an English guide to Fly Fishing techniques published in the
early 1900s. The book discussed the different techniques for casting, where to
position yourself in the stream for casting, and the design of lures.
This series was intended for the Fly Fishing
enthusiast, as evidenced by the following poem from Thomas Doubleday's
"Angling" included in the preface:
Go, take thine
angle, and with practised line,
Light as the gossamer, the current sweep;
And if thou failest in the calm still deep,
In the rough eddy may a prize be thine. |
