Background:
These beautiful pochoir prints are from a 1946 folio illustrated by the French artist
Émile Gallois (1882-1965).
The prints portrayed typical costumes of the
inhabitants of French territories in Africa, Asia, Oceana and the Americas in the 1940s.
Pochoir was a method of print-making using
stencils to expose each colored area, similar to silk screening. |
