Background:

These beautiful prints are from the Transactions of the Horticultural Society of London.  Published in the early 1800s, this journal was distributed to members of the Society.  In addition to featuring vivid hand-colored prints of fruit and flora, the journal also included articles written by members on a variety of horticultural topics including discussions of new varieties of plants, landscaping, greenhouse management and general care of plants in the garden.
