Background:

These colorful prints feature a variety of hunting and shooting scenes after illustrations by T. J.  Rawlins.  As noted in the preface "'Gamonia' is valuable not only for its rarity and charm, it is the first treatise devoted solely to the subject of pheasant rearing, covert shooting, and the management of woodlands for the special purpose of preserving game."  The work was dedicated to the Earl of Derby and the prints are actual views of places or of sporting scenes in the neighborhood of Penwortham, near Preston.

Originally published in England in the early 1800s, these prints are from an American edition published in the early 1900s.
