Background:

The "Life of John Mytton" follows the hunting, shooting, driving and racing adventures of the Squire of Halston, as recorded by his biographer (Nimrod).  The stories first appeared in the early 1830s in The New Sporting Magazine.  The illustrations are from original water colors by Henry Alken.
