These whimsical Mammal prints are from an 1886 children's natural history series published
in the United States. It features very good chromolithograph colors and accurate
representations of the animals portrayed - domestic, small, wild and game - in natural
settings. The preface to the series comments "The pictures have been made its
leading feature. While it makes no pretensions as a text-book, it nevertheless
contains a series of life-like pictures of the animal world, that compare favorably in
accuracy of detail, with those of a carefully prepared scientific work."
