Background:

These prints are from a very rare folio of drawings by Samuel Howitt featuring "wild sports of the East, and exhibiting, in a novel and interesting manner, the natural history" of a variety of animals native to this region including elephants, tigers, species of game, fish, etc.  The accompanying text is based on a manuscript by Captain Thomas Williamson.
