Background:

These lovely prints are from a catalogue of British and foreign seashells published in England in the mid-1800s.  The shells are presented by family (e.g. Venus, Helix, Turbo).  The prints were produced as a copper-plate engravings  and feature detailed hand-coloring for each shell.
