Background:
These hand-colored engraved maps are from an 1850s "modern" geography
series portraying the world "as it is" - or was. The maps have a wonderful
level of detail, and feature some interesting geographic representations - on "The
World" map, the Rocky Mountains in the Western United States is identified as the
"Stony Mountains"!
