Background:
These colorful prints are based on illustrations by the French artist Guy Arnoux to
accompany a series of children's stories authored by Marcelle Fauchier-Delavigne.
The prints were produced by a technique called
"pochoir". Pochoir prints are colored by hand with the help of a stencil
to mask out the areas where each color is not required.
In addition to this series, we also feature on
the Web site a series of French military uniforms
illustrated by Arnoux in the early 1900s. |
