Background:
These engraved prints are from an Irish travelogue published in the late 1800s which
featured the history and scenery of the country as a whole, as well as the individual
counties. Where possible we have noted (in parenthesis) the county represented in
the scene.
The engravings were produced either from steel
plates are color wood blocks. Many illustrations are based on the work of the
English naturalist illustrator William Bartlett.
