Background:
These colorful prints are from a typical Victorian children's reader that featured a
variety of stories used to keep the attention of children, while teaching them how to
read. Included in this series were a picture alphabet and stories about animals,
pets, a visit to the country and the railway.
The reader was published by Frederick Warne and
Company, best known as the as the publisher of Beatrix Potter's stories.
